Global Citizen is in its 15th year, on a mission to end extreme poverty by 2030. The organization promotes efforts to encourage people to cooperate in the world to make it a better place, realizing their responsibilities as a "global citizen". In hopes to raise funds to support this cause, they host an annual concert in Central Park, NYC featuring renown artists. This year's headliner is musician and mogul, Jay-Z. Joining him will be No Doubt, Carrie Underwood, Fun., The Roots and Tiësto. Tickets are free, but it takes a bit of work to get them.
Tickets can be won/earned on the Global Citizen website by taking "action" - watching videos, reading info & taking quizzes or purchasing products to enter drawings. I've watched a few videos and, even if I don't win tickets, I can say that I'm already a better person simply be having been exposed to the issues of my fellow humans. This is an amazing cause and it must feel wonderful for these artists to be a part of something so important and helping expose their respective fans to avenues in which to make a difference. Visit Global Citizen, if not to enter the drawings for tickets, then to find out about the world around us and make small steps toward that goal of ending world poverty. I'm not sure there's any one solution to inequality, but I'm sure that every person and every small effort makes a huge difference. I believe that the most treacherous weapons to mankind are ignorance and selfishness, and Global Citizen is doing a fantastic job at addressing those.
