Marine near Étreta by Monet (1882)

Found my favorite Monet painting, Marine near Étreta, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Claude must have been at piece when he painted this. I already love the ocean and all depictions of it (paint, photo, whatever) but the pastel colors chosen for this piece are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if France really looks like that, but I want to go wherever this is.

I love the impressionist style because I love the idea of a billion tiny brush strokes coming together to create something so large and amazing. I admire impressionist artist for their obvious ability to see the tiny details which [I believe] lend to the beauty of grand things.

Do you have a favorite painting? A favorite Monet?
